TrainingCochise Bird Dog Club members know that even the most well-bred dog requires extensive training to express its true potential. With that in mind, the club offers a series of training sessions based on the techniques of Bill Gibbons and the late Bill West. We meet periodically to start new dogs and to continue the training of more experienced dogs. In conjunction with the Southern Arizona German Shorthaired Pointer Club, the Cochise Bird Dog Club works with handlers and their dogs to bring out the best in each. Training is usually on or near the Las Cienegas Recreation Area near Sonoita. Below you will find links to various articles in PDF format regarding the club's training methods. Please feel free to read each article and apply the knowledge to your training program. If you would like to join us for sessions, please contact Dave Higgins or Leon Davis of the Cochise Bird Dog Club or Nick Besenick of the GSP club.
